Sudhir Ambasana is a visual artist and architect. He received his B.Arch from Mumbai University and his M.A. in architecture and aesthetic practice from Hochschule für Bildende Künste – Städelschule in Frankfurt. He currently lives and operates from his studio in Mumbai.
His primary medium of inquiry includes image-making, video and film by using digital and technological processes like XR, WebGL and 360 deg.camera. Apart from that, he is also a self taught print-maker where he uses print as medium to explore the role and production of ‘images’ throughout history. His work transgresses from the material property of space to the perceptive faculty of human cognition; bringing into concern the dialectical questions regarding mind-body, inside-outside, representation-real, shape-form, image-drawing, machine-human and fragmentation-integration.
His work has been a part of Timcheh Music Festival in Cologne and the India Art Fair in New Delhi. He has exhibited at Emami Art Gallery in Kolkata, Terrain.Art and Nature-Morte in New Delhi. His film, Scale as Such has been screened at Fringe Art Festival in Bath and Harkat Studios in Mumbai.
